Application overview for students enrolling in 2025

The following is an application overview for students enrolling in 2025.
Students wishing to make an application should please contact Bunkyo University Foreign Student Department.

About the Course Spring semester admission (April) - 1 year course
Fall semester admission (September) - 1 year 6 months course
Number of Students to be Accepted 40 [35 applications from overseas (April or September admission) and some applications from inside Japan]
Application Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following four requirements.

  • (1) Hold a foreign nationality that is not Japanese.
  • (2) Those who have completed at least 12-year school education. Alternatively, the following person.
    • Spring Semester (April) Admission: a person who is expected to graduate by the end of March 2025
    • Fall Semester (September) Admission: a person who is expected to graduate by the end of July 2025
  • (3) The applicant should meet the requirements of any of the following a to j.
    • a: At least N5 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test
    • b: Possess at least a score of 300 points or above on the BJT: Business Japanese Proficiency Test
    • c: Possess at least F level of the J.TEST of Practical Japanese
    • d: Possess at least 5 level of the Japanese Language NAT-TEST
    • e: Possess at least a score of 350 points or above on the STBJ: Standard Test for Business Japanese
    • f: Possess at least Beginner level A of the TOPJ: TOP Japanese Language Test
    • g: Possess at least Beginner level of the J-cert: Certificate of Japanese as a Foreign Language
    • h: Possess at least JCT5 of the JLCT: Japanese Language Capability Test
    • i: Possess at least C- of the PJC Bridge
    • j: Possess at least a score of 315 points or above on the JPT: Japanese Proficiency Test
    *If none of the tests above are held in the applicants’ country, they are required to possess equivalent Japanese skills.
  • (4) Have an advisor in Japan. (If not, please contact the university.)
About Advisor

All applicants for the Foreign Student Department must have an Advisor.
*“Advisor” is a person who will assist the applicant from application procedure to his/her life in Japan. The applicant’s sponsor, family, relative, or acquaintance living in Japan may become his/her advisor as long as all the following requirements are fulfilled.

  • (1) A resident of Japan (any nationality), who can speak Japanese. Students not accepted.
  • (2) Will complete all the application and admission procedure, and if any, other required procedure on behalf of the applicant.
  • (3) Knows the applicant well personally and officially.
  • (4) Will advise or counsel the applicant regarding problems in his/her life after his/her admission is approved.
